These are the values that drive my yoga teaching and writing. This is what lights a fire in my belly. It’s the whole purpose behind this blog.
The manifesto below is a living document. It’s intended to grow as my learning continues and the queer yoga community expands.

- Queering yoga is about recognising the barriers which prevent people from accessing yoga spaces and resources, and working to break down barriers to make yoga more equitable.
- It’s about taking our yoga off the mat or chair to have a real world impact. We dedicate our practice to dismantling systems of oppression, including but not limited to racism, ableism, ageism, classism, fatphobia, homophobia / biphobia / transphobia.
- Queer Yoga is about creating healing spaces where people can turn up as their whole selves. This means actively working to avoid perpetuating the same systems of oppression listed above in point 2.
- It’s about honouring and celebrating our unique individual experience of being an embodied human. We use yoga philosophy to better understand our queer selves, as well as turning towards our queerness to deepen our yoga practice.
- Queering yoga is about acknowledging the challenges facing the LGBTQIA+ community and using the tools of yoga to find healing, hope, joy, and transformation.
