Join our free online book club for yoga activism.
We meet once every two months to allow people time to read the book – but don’t worry if you don’t manage to finish! Everyone is welcome to the discussion, regardless of how far you get with the reading.

Get involved
Our next meeting is taking place on 9th June 2026, when we’ll be discussing the book Yoga Revolution by Jivana Heyman.
Our meetings are hosted on Zoom at 5pm in the UK / 9 am Pacific / 11 am Central / 12 pm Eastern in the US. The session will last for one hour.
Accessibility note: We learned that the audiobook version of Yoga Revolution is not yet available, which may be an access barrier. We’ll make sure to choose books with an audiobook version in the future. A workaround suggested was to buy/borrow the ebook version and use a reader with text-to-speech (TTS).
Here are a few places where you can borrow or purchase the book in paper or ebook format:
Your local library (paperback or ebook)
ebook – Bookshop.org
paperback – thriftbooks.com
ebook & paperback – Penguin Random House

Hosts
The Yoga Activism Book Club is a collaboration between Mookaite Jasper (they / them) and Becky Aten (they / she).
Becky runs Yoga for Neurodiversity. See link below for more information.

Aims
We’re aiming to foster a low pressure, accessible book club community where we can…
– learn about other perspectives
– go deeper into activism discussions than social media permits
– generate hope and be together for community care

Book List
Below are images of recommended books, which we’re considering for future book club meetings. We’d love to hear your ideas!
Join us at our next session on 9th June and share your own book recommendations. We receive no commission for books bought.
What to expect at our sessions
How does the book club work?
The sessions are free and open to anyone interested in yoga and social justice.
We allow two months between sessions to allow people time to read, and we choose the books four months ahead of time so people can order books from the library or save up to buy.
We email out discussion questions about the book approx. two weeks before the event date, to allow people time to process.
We use timed sharing approaches in the session to give everyone a chance to speak who wants to contribute – but there’s no pressure to speak. You’re welcome to keep your camera off.
We start the session with a short centering / grounding practice, and end with another invitation to turn inwards to close.
We don’t currently have a way for participants to contact each other outside the sessions, but we are considering something like a Whatsapp group for the future when we are more established.

A Queer Dharma
If you’d like to get organised ahead of time, we will be reading A Queer Dharma by Jacoby Ballard for our session which takes place on 4th August.
Thanks to our community member who made this great suggestion. Keep the recommendations coming folx!
See below for a list of possible books we might read at future sessions.

Community Comfort Agreements
We hope the book club is a space where we can all learn from each other and feel nourished by the experience.
That’s why we’ve created our comfort agreements , which you can read via the button below.
This is a living document which we will continue to update as the community grows.
We’d love your input on this at our book club meetings, or email info@mookaitejasper.com
